Although fairly rare here in the US, Solid black or black and white German Shorthaired Pointers are fairly common in the country of breed origin (Germany), as well as in other countries (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Mexico, Finland, Sweden, etc. ) Black and white German Shorthaired Pointers are recognized and can be registered with the American Kennel Club and can be tested in Hunt Tests, Field Trials, Tracking Tests, etc. The only thing you can't do with your black German Shorthaired Pointers in the US is show him or her in AKC sanctioned shows. Solid Black or black and white German Shorthaired  Pointers are, however, recognized by the F.C.I.(Fédération Cynologique Internationale ) in their standard, and are allowed to be shown in every other country that registers German Shorthaired Pointers. Here in the US, you can show them in F.C.I. International Shows, if you would like, and you can always show in Mexico and Canada, as well.
